Getting Started

Welcome to the Trimble Unity Web Application Course. This course teaches you the functions, features, best practices, and any hints/tips for the use of the Trimble Unity Web application.

Although it is not necessary for the course you may want to 'follow along' using the real system. However, there are some things you need before you can do that:

  1. You will need to have the Chrome web browser installed on your laptop or desktop computer.

    If you have authority to install applications on your desktop or laptop, you can download it at https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/browser/, otherwise contact your IT help desk or equivalent to get it installed.

  2. You will need to get your username and password for Trimble Unity from your system administrator.

Course goals

Once you have completed this module, you should:

  • Be familiar with all the general features available in the Trimble Unity Web application
  • Know how to search for assets
  • Create single, multi-asset or no-asset work orders
  • Assign crews to work orders
  • Review and validate collected data
  • Export data from Trimble Unity to a corporate system
  • Know how to access the Admin area
  • Be able to build a new app and set up forms
  • Be able to configure user details

Target audience

This course is intended for supervisors and other users who will be using the Trimble Unity application to create and organize work for field crews, and assign work orders to same crews. It is also suitable for anyone who would otherwise need to know the basics of using the Trimble Unity Web application.

Prerequisites

There are no particular skills requirements for undertaking this training, however you will need to have a computer with the Chrome desktop browser installed and be registered on the Trimble Unity system in order to use the actual system.

How to use this resource

This course can be used as a standard learning resource, proceeding from start to finish and undertaking the exercises as you complete each topic. Alternatively, you can use it more as a reference document, making use of the contents page to navigate to the particular section you are interested in.
